The Egg Boxer (Ghana)
GHANA: Francis Ampofo was a winner throughout his boxing career and has now transferred those traits to business. Born in 1967 in southern Ghana, Ampofo emigrated to the mean streets of East London as a youngster where he learnt the art of boxing. He became both British and Commonwealth champion twice and now runs his own farm in the UK. BBC Sport Africa has been to watch him in action with his prized hens!

NFL Talent Camp (Ghana)

Sadio Mane (Senegal)
SENEGAL: Sadio Mane is quite rightly regarded as a national hero in Senegal. The talismanic forward led his country to their maiden Africa Cup of Nations title in February 2022 and World Cup qualification the next month. Handball Triplets (Tunisia)
TUNISIA: Anis, Mourad and Yassine Ben Salem are making headlines … and for all the right reasons. Darfur Running Sisters (Sudan)
SUDAN: Fatima and Abeer are two teenage sisters who’ve loved running long distances for almost a decade now. They were born in Jordan after their dad fled Sudan during the 1995 civil war. Despite being some of the best Marathon runners in the country though, the sisters say they face many challenges due to their refugee status. Taekwondo Nurse (Nigeria)
NIGERIA: As a child growing up in Lagos, Adaeze Efobi first started watching taekwondo on the television. She told her parents she was interested in the sport but they believed martial art was too physical and not something she could enjoy with the certain health challenges she faced. Now, Adaeze is a black national champion in taekwondo as well as a qualified nurse. She has quite a story to tell and we've been to meet her:

She Cranes Netball (Uganda)
UGANDA: For netball, it doesn't get much bigger than the Commonwealth Games. Three African teams took part in the 2022 competition, including Uganda. One of their star players, goal shooter Mary Nuba, fled South Sudan as a child and says the sport helped her both on and off the court. She talked to BBC Sport Africa about her excitement ahead of competing for the She Cranes at the Commonwealth Games in England:

Deaf Footballer (Uganda)
UGANDA: Shakirah Nabakooza has been playing football in Uganda since she was eight years old. Back then, she was told that football was for boys. She didn't let it affect her and has since been using the beautiful game to create awareness around hearing impairments. Africa's fastest man

Malawi's football soldier
MALAWI: Not many professional footballers have secondary careers but Richard Mbulu isn’t your average player. The striker, who plays for Baroka FC in South Africa, is as used to firing shots at goal as he is of firing on the shooting range in his job as a soldier. MALI: Djimi Traore became the first player from Mali to win the Uefa Champions League in 2005, when his Liverpool team beat AC Milan. It was an inspired comeback as the English Premier League side were losing 3-0 at half-time but managed to score three in the second-half to take it to extra-time. Paralympic swimmer
UGANDA: Husnah Kukundakwe is currently Uganda's only active classified para-swimmer. The international paralympic committee labelled her debut at the 2019 world champs as one of the top 10 moments of the year given the rarity of africa para swimmers.
