Australia’s Rob Valetini is "hungry" to face the British and Irish Lions after returning from his injury.

The back-row forward missed the first Test with a calf problem but has declared himself fit and ready for selection for the second Test in Melbourne.

Australia head coach Joe Schmidt revealed ahead of the first Test that Valetini would miss out due to precaution rather than a serious injury.

Despite the second Test being a must-win match for the Wallabies, after Australia lost the first 27-19, the experienced Valetini does not feel any pressure going into the game.

"I would have been a shoo-in for the first Test, but it was a smart idea to have a week off and get through some more training," said Valetini, who has earned 52 caps for Australia.

"It feels good to go. I've got a lot of hunger to get out there.

"I don't really feel pressure or anything. I feel like it is another game of rugby and something I have been playing since I was young.

"I just try and go out there and do my job – carrying, tackling – and doing my bit for the team.

"It was hard to miss the last two games, but the hunger for the jersey is right up there."
