US Open: Venus Williams keen to keep playing after doubles exit
Venus Williams returned to tennis this year and, despite a US Open doubles exit, hopes to play more tournaments ahead.
Venus Williams is keen to keep playing tennis following her exit from the US Open women's doubles quarter-final on Tuesday.
Williams and Leylah Fernandez had stormed to the last eight of the competition without dropping a set, but they were beaten 6-1 6-2 by top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.
The 45-year-old had received wild cards for the women's singles, doubles, and the revamped mixed doubles draws this year, having returned to tennis in July after a 16-month absence.
Williams paired up with Reilly Opelka in the mixed doubles but was beaten in the round of 16 by Andrey Rublev and Karolina Muchova, with the latter also knocking her out in the first round of the singles.
The seven-time grand slam champion has also featured at the Washington Open and Cincinnati Masters, and she is open to playing more tournaments in the future.
"If there is opportunity for me to play, then hopefully I can get back somewhere this year," said Williams.

"What I'm proudest of is it's not easy to come off the bench. I have never had a layoff that long. It brought new challenges that I wasn't ready for in so many ways."
Asked if her return to the sport made her fall back in love with tennis, she added: "I was never out of love with the game.
"I never had to think about if I loved the game. I was always playing, so it's part of my DNA. But clearly to be out here grinding at this point, there has to be a little love, right?"
