Kyrgios preparing for one final Australian Open ahead of retirement
After being limited by ankle, foot, knee and wrist injuries over the past three years, Nick Kyrgios is considering retirement from tennis.
Nick Kyrgios admitted that he is nearing the end of his tennis career, but wants one final appearance at the Australian Open.
The 30-year-old has not featured in any competitions since March after suffering a knee injury, marking his latest spell on the sidelines over a difficult three-year period.
Kyrgios enjoyed a positive 2022 campaign, reaching his maiden grand slam final at Wimbledon while also winning the doubles title at the Australian Open alongside compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis.
However, Kyrgios has only appeared in one of the last 12 grand slam events over the past three years, losing to Jacob Fearnley in the first round in Melbourne earlier this year.
He has suffered with various injuries over that time, with his time on the court limited by ankle, foot and wrist problems.
"I do know that I'm getting to the end of my tennis career now, especially with all these injuries," Kyrgios said in a recent episode of Unscripted.

"I can't do another surgery where you're out for another six to nine months.
"Yeah, I'll probably play the Aussie Open in some way. I'm not too sure what events I'll play, but I definitely will say goodbye at the Aussie Open at least one more time."
