De Minaur claims landmark triumph in Vienna opener, Bublik progresses
Alex de Minaur's impressive 2025 season rolled on as he recorded the 300th win of his career against Jurij Rodionov at the Vienna Open.
Alex de Minaur cruised to the 300th victory of his career in his opening match at the Vienna Open against Jurij Rodionov on Monday.
Third seed De Minaur needed just an hour and 20 minutes to seal a convincing 6-4 6-1 triumph, setting up a tie with either Camilo Ugo Carabelli or Filip Misolic in round two.
Both players traded blows throughout the opening set, with Rodionov missing two break points in the fifth game, a moment that proved costly for the Austrian wildcard.
De Minaur was able to get the better of his opponent's serve to register the first break of the match, and from there the result never looked in any doubt in the second set.
The world number seven quickly raced into a 3-0 lead and though Rodionov responded, a further break from De Minaur in the sixth game put him on the cusp of the last 16.
And he did so in style by serving to love, sealing his progression with a fierce forehand that Rodionov could only return high and long.
De Minaur will be joined in the next round by eighth seed Alexander Bublik, who also recorded an equally dominant win over Alejandro Tabilo.
Bublik, who earlier in the week said he could reach the top 10 of the ATP rankings by the end of 2025, did his chances no harm here with a 6-4 6-4 triumph.

Data Debrief: De Minaur reaches another landmark in 2025
At his last tournament in Shanghai, De Minaur got his 50th win of the year, the first time he's hit that number in a single season, and he reached another milestone in Vienna.
Indeed, his 300th win saw him become the second man born in 1999 or later to hit that number, with Jannik Sinner (306) having completed the feat earlier in the campaign.
The Australian also currently has the second-most wins on the men's tour this year, trailing only Carlos Alcaraz's 67. Taylor Fritz is one behind him at 50.
