Wales wing Adams ruled out of Scotland clash due to hamstring injury

Josh Adams, who has scored 21 tries in 61 Tests for Wales, will be missing for their must-win Six Nations clash with Scotland this weekend.

Josh Adams has been ruled out of Wales' Six Nations trip to face Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Cardiff wing Jones missed the 27-18 defeat to Ireland with a hamstring problem and has not recovered in time for this weekend.

Gloucester fly-half Gareth Anscombe has, however, recovered from a head knock suffered against Ireland and is available for selection.

"Gareth is fine and good to go," said Wales scrum coach Adam Jones.

"It's good to have a voice. He came in as if he hadn't been away. It's been good to have him leading it."

Wales have lost each of their last 15 Test matches, their longest ever such run. In the professional era, only Italy (L16) have gone on a longer losing streak among Tier 1 nations.

It has been almost exactly two years since Wales last won in the Six Nations, losing their last nine matches in the Championship since a 29-17 win over the Azzurri.

Their average margin of defeat in this run is 14 points, though three of their last four losses have come by a single-digit margin.

Ospreys hooker Dewi Lake is also in contention for a return after missing the first three Six Nations defeats because of an arm injury.

Lakes has not played in the Six Nations since 2022 after being hampered by injuries, but impressed when captaining Wales in Australia and during the autumn internationals.

"Dewi has been excellent, and it is good to have him back," said Jones. "He's a former captain and has been a big player for Wales in the last few years.

Jones also believes that a couple of impressive displays from Lake could help him force his way into the British and Irish Lions trip to face Australia in the summer.

"He's been mentioned in certain [Lions] squads. He's got a point to prove, that's the beauty of this year," Jones added.

"Anyone who plays well in the Six Nations has a chance to tour in the summer. There are a few boys in our squad who are in the mix, and he's one of them."

Scotland beat Wales 35-7 the last time they met at Murrayfield in the Six Nations, their biggest victory against them in the 142-year history of this fixture.

They've not won back-to-back home games against Wales since a five-game streak between 1987 and 1995, however, but will be confident given their opponents' recent form.
