'This was a vibe' – Mngomezulu revels in record points haul as Springboks crush Pumas
South Africa are on the cusp of retaining the Rugby Championship title, following a Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu-inspired win over Argentina.
Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu revelled in his record-breaking haul of 37 points as South Africa cruised to a 67-30 win over Argentina and went top of the Rugby Championship table.
Mngomezulu scored more than half of his nation's points in Durban, breaking Percy Montgomery's previous record by a South Africa player against Namibia in 2007 (35).
The victory ensured the Springboks jumped ahead of New Zealand in the Rugby Championship standings with 15 points from five games.
They now know another bonus-point win over Los Pumas in next week's rematch at Twickenham will secure their third title.
They could even have the trophy tied up before they kick-off, as they will retain their crown if the All Blacks fail to beat third-placed Australia at Optus Stadium in Perth.
"This was a vibe. I am very happy," Mngomezulu said at full-time.
"We just wanted to play good rugby, and we put the work we had done in training into the game."
Should the Springboks get the job done next Saturday, they will become the first team other than New Zealand to retain the Rugby Championship title since Australia in 2000 and 2001.
