France 17-35 England: Kildunne propels World Cup hosts into final

England welcomed back Ellie Kildunne from injury, and she played a starring role as the Red Roses reached the Women's Rugby World Cup final.

England booked their place in a seventh successive Women's Rugby World Cup final after a 35-17 victory over France.

Ellie Kildunne marked her comeback from injury with two tries, while Amy Cokayne, Abbie Ward and Megan Jones also crossed for the Red Roses, who will play Canada in next weekend's showpiece at Twickenham.

After missing the quarter-final victory over Scotland due to concussion, Kildunne took just four minutes to break the deadlock at Ashton Gate, but Nassira Konde went over for France to reduce their deficit to 7-5 at half-time.

But England took control after the break with Cokayne and Ward crossing, while Kildunne's second try put them 28-12 to the good, with Kelly Arbey having crossed for France.

Konde completed her brace to keep France's hopes alive, but England saw off the challenge and Jones added further gloss when she went over in the final minute.

Data Debrief: More semi-final misery for France

France and Women's Rugby World Cup semi-finals just do not mix. Indeed, they have now lost all nine they have contested.

By contrast, this was a ninth win in 10 such matches for England, who have now won each of the last 17 meetings between the nations.

The return of Kildunne certainly inspired the Red Roses. She beat 12 defenders over the course of the match, the most by any player in a single game at this tournament.
