Emma Raducanu reached the third round of Indian Wells following her straight-sets victory over Anastasia Zakharova.

The British number one emerged victorious in an hour and 23 minutes, winning 6-1 6-3 to set up a third-round clash against either Amanda Anisimova or Anna Blinkova.

Raducanu was ruthless in the opening stages of the encounter, converting her first break point opportunity in the second game on her way to a 3-0 lead in the first, and then doing the same in the sixth game for a 5-1 cushion.

The 23-year-old clinched the first and looked to make a fast start in the second, though this time around, Zakharova was able to save a break point.

However, it only delayed the inevitable, as Raducanu broke three times in the second to secure victory in California.

Elsewhere, world number ten Victoria Mboko defeated Kimberly Birrell in straight sets to progress into the third round.

Mboko, who recently lost her second final of the season in Qatar, won 6-4 7-6 (7-5) and will face Anna Kalinskaya in the next round.

It was a very strong display on serve from Raducanu, who won 75.8% of her first-serve points to Zakharova's 47.8%, while also firing in three aces to her counterpart's 0.
