Pegula survives last four scare to reach Bad Homburg final
Jessica Pegula came back from a set down to beat Linda Noskova in the Bad Homburg Open semi-finals.
Jessica Pegula overcame an early scare to defeat Linda Noskova and reach the Bad Homburg Open final.
Pegula won 6-7 (2-7) 7-5 6-1 in two hours and eight minutes to set up a final matchup against Iga Swiatek.
Noskova broke Pegula's serve in the very first game of the match, immediately putting the first seed under pressure.
Pegula fought back but was off the mark in the tiebreaker, winning just two points.
Noskova had a great chance to win the match herself in the second set after taking a 5-3 lead, but Pegula won four consecutive games to force a deciding set.
The American then carried her momentum over into the third, winning the final five games in a row and converting her third match point to reach the showpiece.

Meanwhile, at Eastbourne, Alexandra Eala became the first Filipina to reach a WTA final after beating Varvara Gracheva 7-5 2-6 6-3.
She will face 19-year-old Maya Joint following the Australian's 7-5 6-3 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, making this the youngest title match at the tournament since 1981.
Data Debrief: Final number five for Pegula
Bad Homburg marks Pegula's fifth final of the calendar year, which has helped her reach a career-high world number three ranking.
In her four previous finals, Pegula won at the Charleston Open and ATX Open, while losing in Miami and Adelaide.
She had to dig deep to do it though, saving four of six break points she faced, while converting five of 16.
