'It was a rough year' – Schauffele ends 14-month title drought
Xander Schauffele has ended a 14-month wait for silverware by coming out on top at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan.
Xander Schauffele was thrilled to put a "rough year" behind him by ending his title drought at the Baycurrent Classic on Sunday.
The American claimed his first silverware in 14 months, after finishing a shot clear of Max Greyserman at Yokohama Country Club.
Schauffele, whose previous triumph came at last year's Open Championship, shot a final round of 64, hitting eight birdies along the way, to prevail in the country where his mother grew up and grandparents reside.
The 31-year-old also won the PGA Championship in 2024, but was unable to build on that momentum this year, while he also suffered the setback of a rib injury.

Schauffele conceded his drought left him questioning his ability, but he expressed gratitude for the support of his network during the tough times.
"I think every player in any sport, at some point in time, you feel like you're on top of the world," the 2020 Olympic gold medallist said.
"Then you feel like, not that you've lost it, but you feel less confident.
"It was a rough year, but my team dragged me through it. They pick me up when I'm down.
"Hopefully, I'm catching my stride. It was a big learning experience with the injury this year."
Schauffele was also part of the United States team that lost to Europe at the Ryder Cup last month.
