NBA Cup: Bucks win to open title defence
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s huge game kept Milwaukee unbeaten during the group stage in the three-year history of the NBA Cup.
Giannis Antetokounmpo just missed a triple-double with 41 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists, and the Milwaukee Bucks began defence of their NBA Cup title with a 126-110 win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday.
Milwaukee improved to 9-0 in group play action since the NBA Cup debuted in the 2023-24 season.
The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the semi-finals in 2023 before defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in last year’s championship game.
Antetokounmpo was the MVP of last season’s NBA Cup and became the only player to be selected to the All-NBA Cup team in each edition.
Myles Turner had 23 points, eight rebounds and four steals Friday for Milwaukee (6-3), while Ryan Rollins pitched in with 20 points, six boards, four assists and three steals.
The Bulls (6-2) got 20 points and eight rebounds from Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey had 16 points, 14 assists and seven boards.
