Verstappen revels in 'incredible' Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend
Max Verstappen clinched his fourth win of the 2025 Formula One season after claiming victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday.
Max Verstappen described Red Bull's weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as "incredible" after he stormed to victory in Baku on Sunday.
Verstappen took the chequered flag almost 15 seconds ahead of second-placed George Russell, with the Dutchman posting his fourth victory of the season.
Indeed, the reigning world champion has now claimed three consecutive podium finishes for the first time since April and May 2024, though a late title charge seems unlikely.
He is also just the second driver to win multiple titles in Azerbaijan (also triumphing in 2022), after former Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez (2021 and 2023).
Verstappen reduced the gap to championship leader Oscar Piastri to 69 points, after the Australian crashed out on the opening lap, though that error was not punished by fellow McLaren driver Lando Norris, Piastri's foremost challenger in the drivers' championship standings.
Norris came home in seventh after a slow pitstop in the latter stages of the race, with the gap between the two McLaren drivers now standing at 25 points.
However, the day belonged to Verstappen, whose victory edged Red Bull closer to Ferrari in the constructors' championship with seven races of 2025 remaining.
"This weekend has been incredible for us, last weekend was already great, but for us to win here again is just fantastic," Verstappen said.
"In the race, the car was working really well on both of the compounds, we had clean air all the time and you could then look after your tyres.
"It was pretty straightforward, it's not easy around here, and it's very windy today, so the car is always moving around a lot. I'm very happy with this performance."

The Formula One calendar resumes in two weeks' time in Singapore, with Verstappen yet to claim a victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit during his career.
And despite putting together back-to-back victories, Verstappen was unsure how sustainable Red Bull's form in Baku will be for the rest of the campaign.
"It's difficult to say at the moment but the last two race weekends have been amazing for us," Verstappen added.
"Singapore is a completely different challenge again with the higher downforce, so we will see what we can do there."
