Marko leaves Red Bull advisor role after 20 years
After 20 years, over 400 races and six Constructors' Championships in Formula One, Helmut Marko has called time on his career at Red Bull.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has announced that he is leaving the team after working together for over 20 years.
Marko was hired as an advisor for the Red Bull Formula One team when they joined the grid in 2005, while taking on the same role with their second team, then called Toro Rosso, in 2006.
The 82-year-old helped the team win six Constructors' Championships in the sport and eight Drivers' Championships, with Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel winning four titles apiece.
Marko also played a key role in keeping Verstappen at the team while there was speculation around his future, with the Dutch driver previously saying the advisor was like a "second father".
Verstappen lost out on a fifth-straight title on the final day of the 2025 season to McLaren's Lando Norris, which played a role in Marko's decision.
Marko said in a statement: "I have been involved in motorsport for six decades now, and the past 20-plus years at Red Bull have been an extraordinary and extremely successful journey.

"It has been a wonderful time that I have been able to help shape and share with so many talented people.
"Everything we have built and achieved together fills me with pride.
"Narrowly missing out on the world championship this season has moved me deeply and made it clear to me that now is the right moment for me personally to end this very long, intense, and successful chapter.
"I wish the entire team continued success and am convinced that they will be fighting for both world championship titles again next year."
