France 'not afraid' of Argentina and Spain ahead of World Cup, claims Saliba
France have high aspirations for next year's World Cup, should they qualify, and William Saliba says they are not scared of anyone.
William Saliba insists that France are not scared of Argentina or Spain as they prepare for next year's World Cup, claiming they can beat any team.
France finished as runners-up to Argentina in the 2022 edition, losing on penalties after an enthralling final that ended 3-3 after extra time.
And Les Bleus also saw their Euro 2024 campaign ended by the eventual champions, going down 2-1 to Spain in the semi-finals last year.
France are yet to qualify for the tournament but currently sit top of their group with two wins from two so far.
"The World Cup is eight months away. Spain and Argentina have won the last two major competitions, that's true," Saliba said.
"But we're not afraid of them. I hope we qualify and get our revenge at the World Cup.
"It's the greatest competition in football. Everyone wants to be there. There's nothing higher than that. That's all we're waiting for."

France are expected to extend their perfect start to qualifying on Friday as they host bottom-of-the-group Azerbaijan at the Parc des Princes.
Saliba missed the first two matches against Ukraine and Iceland through injury, but he is delighted to be back in the fold ahead of their next two matches.
"It's always a bit annoying to be injured," he added. "Competition is fierce in the French team.
"I'm back today. We'll see how it goes. But I'll have to be good when the coach needs me."
