Novak Djokovic defeated Sebastian Korda in straight sets at the Miami Open to become the oldest ever ATP Masters 1000 semi-finalist.

The 37-year-old topped Roger Federer's record from the 2019 Miami Open by 73 days after a 6-3 7-6 (6-4) quarter-final success on Thursday.

And Djokovic will now face another veteran in the last four, facing 33-year-old Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the final.

That encounter will see the oldest combined age between two opponents in a Masters 1000 semi-final, too.

Djokovic's game is in a good place going into that clash, serving 11 aces to no double-faults against Korda while seizing both of his break-point opportunities.

The prize beyond Dimitrov may yet be a meeting with a player at the opposite end of his career, with teenager Jakub Mensik advancing to the other semi-final after beating Arthur Fils.

Data debrief: Djokovic sets the standard

Despite playing to such an age, Djokovic set another benchmark in beating Korda, displaying his remarkable staying power at the very highest level.

This was his 99th win across the singles tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami to just 18 defeats.

That win rate of 84.6% is the best of any player to play 10 such matches since 1985.
