Clutch Cunningham leads surging Pistons past 76ers
Cunningham makes two late baskets to help the Pistons hold off the 76ers to extend their winning streak to six games.
When the Detroit Pistons were in need of a clutch basket, Cade Cunningham delivered.
Twice.
Cunningham scored 26 points and the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 111-108 on Sunday to extend their winning streak to six games.
Clinging to a two-point lead with just under two minutes remaining, Cunningham dunked over Andre Drummond and then made the ensuing free throw to make the score 109-104.

The 76ers (6-4) answered with four straight points from Tyrese Maxey on a dunk and two free throws to cut the deficit to one point, but Cunningham responded with a fadeaway jumper from inside the free-throw line with 19 seconds remaining to push Detroit's lead to three. Maxey then missed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds.
Jalen Duren finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds for the Pistons (8-2), while Maxey scored a game-high 33 points for a 76ers team playing without Joel Embiid in the second half of a back-to-back.
Gilgeous-Alexander's late flurry helps Thunder get by Grizzlies
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points and took over in the fourth quarter to help the Oklahoma City Thunder overcome a sluggish start in a 114-100 win over the Memphis Grizzlies to improve to 10-1.
With the Thunder (10-1) leading by five points with four minutes remaining, Gilgeous-Alexander scored nine straight points for the defending champions in just over a minute to make the score 108-96.
The reigning NBA MVP drained consecutive 3-pointers and then converted a three-point play after being fouled on a driving finger roll layup.

After trailing by as much as 19 points in the first half, the Thunder outscored the Grizzlies 63-28 after half-time to extend their winning streak against Memphis (4-7) to 14 games, which includes a four-game sweep in the first round of last season's play-offs.
Chet Holmgren and Ajay Mitchell each scored 21 points for Oklahoma City, while Isaiah Hartenstein added 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Jaren Jackson Jr. led six Memphis players in double figures with 17 points. Ja Morant scored 11 and added eight assists but struggled mightily with his shooting, making only 3 of 18 shots.
Knicks topple Nets for fourth straight win
The New York Knicks stayed hot offensively, cruising to a 134-98 victory over the Brooklyn Nets to push their winning streak to four games.
Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby each scored 19 for the Knicks, who improved to 6-0 at home.
One game after scoring a season-high 137 points, New York (6-3) had 40 after one quarter against Brooklyn and 77 points going into half-time. The Knicks, who shot 53.9 per cent from the floor for the second straight game, led the Nets by as much as 39.
The victory marked New York's 11th in a row over Brooklyn, which matches the Knicks' longest winning streak in series history.
