Clark 'day-to-day' after missing Fever's defeat to Sparks with groin issue
Caitlin Clark recently missed five games with a quadriceps injury, and she could be set for more time out after sustaining a groin issue.
Caitlin Clark will be assessed on a daily basis after missing the Indiana Fever's 85-75 defeat to the Los Angeles Sparks with a left groin injury, said coach Stephanie White.
Speaking shortly before tip-off in Thursday's game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, White confirmed Clark had been for an MRI after struggling in practice on Wednesday.
Clark – the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year – had missed five games with a quadriceps injury before returning on June 13.
The Fever went 2-3 during that stint without her, and she has averaged 17.8 points per game since her comeback.
Indiana are back in action against the Dallas Wings on Friday before a spell of five days off, and White says the team will consider the demands of the schedule before reintroducing Clark.
"I think it's very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment," White said when asked about Clark's condition.
"Certainly, in my mind, the schedule is a factor. At the same time, she has shown she's tough, and a quick healer, so we'll see."
In Clark's absence, the Fever got 20 points from Kelsey Mitchell in their defeat to the Sparks, for whom Azura Stevens had 23 points and Kelsey Plum added 21.
The defeat dropped Indiana to 7-8 for the season, the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference, while the Sparks are second bottom in the West at 5-11.
Tonight's final verdict.

In Thursday's other matchup, the Washington Mystics beat the Las Vegas Aces 94-83 to improve to 8-8 for the campaign, one game ahead of their opponents.
Rookie Sonia Citron had 21 points and Sug Sutton tacked on 17 as Washington earned their third straight victory despite being without leading scorer Brittney Sykes.
A'ja Wilson, who on Wednesday became the fastest player in league history to reach 5,000 career points, had 22 points for the Aces.
