Lang to miss Netherlands' clash with Norway after surgery on freak injury
The Netherlands will be without Noa Lang when they face Norway on Friday, but the on-loan Galatasaray forward could feature next week.
Noa Lang will miss the Netherlands' upcoming friendly against Norway but could be back to face Ecuador following surgery on a freak hand injury.
Lang was called up to Ronald Koeman's 26-man squad last Friday despite being carried off from Galatasaray's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League two days prior.
The 26-year-old hand was trapped between two advertising boards in a freak incident at Anfield, which resulted in him requiring surgery at a nearby hospital on Merseyside.
Lang, who is currently on loan at the Turkish Super Lig side from Italian giants Napoli, reassured fans of his well-being via a social media post with the caption "s*** happens."
Netherlands are preparing to face Norway at Johan Cruijff Arena on Friday in what is their first meeting since a World Cup qualifier in 2021, a game the Oranje won 2-0.

Lang is not the only notable absentee from Koeman's ranks, with Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury.
Memphis Depay also faces a race against time to prove his fitness, while Manchester United's Matthijs de Light and Arsenal's Jurrien Timber are also dealing with injury issues.
Emmanuel Emegha, Justin Kluivert and back-up goalkeeper Robin Roefs are also all unavailable this month.
The Oranje will then take on Ecuador next Tuesday as they build towards their Group F opener against Japan at the World Cup, on June 14.
