Kings star big man Sabonis to miss start of season
The three-time All-Star has been diagnosed with a grade 1 hamstring strain after getting injured in a preseason game this week.
The Sacramento Kings will now be down two starters to begin the 2025-26 season after announcing Saturday that star big man Domantas Sabonis will be reevaluated in one week after suffering a grade 1 hamstring strain in a preseason game on Wednesday.
Sabonis led the NBA in rebounding for the third straight season in 2024-25, pulling down 13.9 boards per game.
The three-time All-Star also contributed 19.1 points and 6.0 assists a contest, making Sabonis the only player in the NBA last season to average at least 19 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.
His 59.0 field-goal percentage, meanwhile, ranked seventh in the league.

Sabonis is the second Sacramento starter to go down in the preseason, joining key forward Keegan Murray, who tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb during a game on October 10 and will be reevaluated in four-to-six weeks.
The Kings, who went 40-42 last season before losing in the NBA Play-In Tournament, open the 2025-26 campaign on the road Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.
