Wrexham 2-0 Swansea City: Broadhead helps down rivals to strengthen play-off hopes
Wrexham extended their stay in the top six of the Championship with a 2-0 victory over rivals Swansea City at the Racecourse Ground.
Nathan Broadhead scored another crucial goal for Wrexham as they defeated rivals Swansea City 2-0 at the Racecourse Ground.
Broadhead opened the scoring before Liam Cullen's own goal secured victory for the hosts, while goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo made two crucial saves to help ensure that they will remain in the top six of the Championship over the weekend.
Swansea should have perhaps taken the lead in the 21st minute when Zan Vipotnik was played through on goal, but the forward saw his low-driven attempt kept out by a strong hand from Okonkwo.
And not too long after that, Broadhead broke the deadlock. He was picked out in the box by Callum Doyle before dribbling past Cameron Burgess and curling into the bottom-right corner.
Okonkwo was then called into action again shortly after the hour mark, quickly getting down to his right to tip Marko Stamenic's powerful strike around the post as Swansea upped the pressure in search of an equaliser.
However, the goalkeeper's efforts were rewarded at the other end as Doyle saw his close-range header inadvertently diverted in by Cullen in the 88th minute.

Data Debrief: Broadhead the deadlock specialist
For the fourth time this season in the Championship, Nathan Broadhead has opened the scoring for Wrexham as the former Everton man looks to lead the Championship side into the Premier League.
Broadhead attempted the most shots for his side (three), while also registering the most touches in the box (four), attempting the most dribbles (six), recording the most interceptions (two) and creating one chance.
Wrexham have only lost one of 16 home Football League games against Swansea (W11 D4), with the home fans walking away with the bragging rights this time around after losing the reverse fixture.
