Hamburg 2-2 Bayern Munich: Vuskovic denies Bundesliga leaders comeback win

Bayern Munich maintain a healthy lead at the top of the Bundesliga, despite failing to win for the second week in a row.

Bayern Munich have now failed to win their last two Bundesliga matches after being held to a 2-2 draw by Hamburg at Volksparkstadion.

Harry Kane and substitute Luis Diaz struck on either side of half-time to cancel out Fabio Vieira's opener, but Luka Vuksovic grabbed an equaliser for the hosts.

Bayern started on the front foot, with Michael Olise seeing a low strike palmed away by Daniel Fernandes, who then made himself big to smother Lennart Karl's effort moments later.

Joshua Kimmich then rattled the crossbar from just outside the box, but it was Hamburg who struck first after the Germany international tripped Nicolai Remberg to give away a penalty.

Vieira stepped up from 12 yards and slotted into the bottom-left corner, squeezing it past Manuel Neuer in the 34th minute.

Kane restored parity three minutes before the break, though, meeting Kimmich's scuffed attempt to fire in.

And it took just 43 seconds after the break for Diaz to put Bayern in front; he met Olise's throughball on the spin before coolly slotting past Fernandes, but Vuskovic planted a header home after meeting William Mikelbrencis' delivery to equalise seven minutes later.

Hamburg almost snatched a winner as Vieira had an open goal to aim for, but Alphonso Davies slid in to spare Bayern's blushes, while Jamal Musiala's looping long-range shot had to be tipped over by Fernandes at the other end.

Data Debrief: Bayern's defensive wobble

After a 2-1 loss to Augsburg last weekend, Vincent Kompany would have been aiming to get back on track, but Bayern nevertheless remain nine points clear at the Bundesliga summit.

And though they will be frustrated by a draw, Bayern are now unbeaten in their last 19 away games in the league (W14 D5).

Bayern have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their first five Bundesliga games in 2026, though, their joint-longest such run in this millennium (also five in 2019).

Defensively, they were certainly well short of their best, giving up chances worth 2.26 expected goals, while accumulating 2.35 xG going the other way.
