Brittney Sykes had another big scoring performance in leading the Toronto Tempo to a 98-90 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday.

Sykes scored 31 points two days after recording a career-high 38 points in Sunday's 106-96 win over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Through five games this season, the nine-year veteran is already averaging 25.6 points after averaging 14.1 points last season for the Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics.

Marina Mabrey added 30 points and her sixth 3-pointer of the game with 1:25 left put Toronto up 96-90.

The Tempo (3-2) finished with a season-high 15 3-pointers, while the Mercury (2-3) were undone by their 3-point shooting, going just 4 of 22 (18.2 per cent) from beyond the arc.

Kahleah Copper led Phoenix with 18 points, while Alyssa Thomas added 17 points, eight assists and three steals.

The game featured 24 lead changes and the score was tied on 13 occasions.
