T1 wins LoL Worlds 2025, cementing their place in the history books

Here’s what went down at LoL Worlds 2025, where T1 became the first back-to-back-to-back champions in esports history.

At the Dong’an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium venue in China, history was made, or should we instead say, League of Legends (LoL) esports records were strengthened beyond any reasonable doubt. Here's what went down at LoL Worlds 2025, in case you missed it for some odd reason.

T1 claims the Summoner's Cup

As the 2023 and 2024 winners, T1 were the back-to-back defending champions, looking to lift a third Summoner's Cup in a row. Despite a slow start, narrowly making it out of the Group Stage, T1 simply powered up beyond belief in the Playoffs Stage of LoL Worlds 2025.

T1 narrowly managed to overcome Anyone’s Legend with a 3-2 comeback in the Quarterfinals. Then, T1 powered up to smash Top Esports 3-0 for a spot in the Grand Finals. On the other side of the bracket, KT Rolster smashed CTBC Flying Oyster 3-0 in the Quarterfinals and beat the favorites Gen.G Esports 3-1 in the Semifinals to reach the Grand Final of LoL Worlds 2025.

In the best-of-five Grand Final, T1 drew first blood, but KT Rolster responded with vigor, winning the next two games in a row to take a 2-1 lead. With their big-match temperament on full display, the defending champions simply refused to go down. T1 won the final two games of LoL Worlds 2025, completing a beautiful comeback to become the first squad ever to win three LoL Worlds events in a row, cementing themselves as the best team to ever play the game.

The Grand Finals MVP went to Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyung. T1's legendary midlaner, the “unkillable demon king” aka Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, lifted his sixth Summoner’s Cup, by far the most of any player in LoL esports history.

Keep in mind that T1 came from the Play-In match, having to beat Invictus Gaming by the skin of their teeth just to make it to the main event of LoL Worlds 2025.
