We have our first big LAN event winners in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) for 2026! Yes, the RLCS 2026 Boston Major, featuring some South Africans in Five Fears, finished up on Sunday, 22 February. Here's how things went down.

The best 16 Rocket League teams from across the globe entered the Agganis Arena in Boston, United States, fighting for a huge prize pool. Teams from all regions were in attendance, including Five Fears (with two South Africans), representing the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) region.

First up, Five Fears fought as best they could, but got swept in Group A, losing 0-3 to NIP, 0-3 to PWR, and 0-3 to NRG, dropping out of the competition in 13th-16th place. They did earn $4,500 and 3 RLCS Points in the process.

After topping Group D, it was Gentle Mates who made it through the Playoffs Stage unscathed, first beating NRG in a nailbiter of a comeback for a 4-3 win. Gentle Mates then took out Team Falcons in another banger, winning 4-3 to claim their spot in the RLCS 2026 Boston Major Grand Final.

On the other side of the bracket, it was Team Vitality who took care of business after topping Group C. Team Vitality first sent Team Falcons down to the lower bracket with a solid 4-2 showing, and then took out NRG in dominating fashion with a 4-1 win to claim a spot in the Grand Final.

In the RLCS 2026 Boston Major Grand Final, it was Gentle Mates who pulled ahead with a 2-0 start. Team Vitality responded in the next two games, tying things up 2-2. However, Gentle Mates bounced back with vigor to win the next two, finishing with a 4-2 score in the Grand Final.

Congratulations go out to Gentle Mates for their excellent performance on the virtual pitch. They lift the coveted trophy, claiming the first-place prize of $102,000 and a whopping 30 RLCS points.
