Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. and South African tournament organizer Mettlestate, and Mamelodi Sundowns have announced the Mamelodi Sundowns Esports Championship. On the line in this online and live event series is a massive R200,000 prize pool. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Mamelodi Sundowns Esports Championship will ultimately see the top EA FC 25 players in South Africa compete at rAge 2024 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from 29 November to 1 December for their share of the R200,000 prize pool.

To qualify as one of the top eight for the live finals at the Mamelodi Sundowns stand at the rAge 2024, players will need to battle through a series of qualifiers.

There will be four live (and offline) qualifiers taking place at malls in South Africa. The winner of each mall event will qualify for the Mamelodi Sundowns Esports Championship. Two players from the online qualifier will join the rAge 2024 live final, with the final two spots not revealed via the rules on the Mettlestate site.

Players should also not that the rules state that the tournament will be hosted on PlayStation 5 only, with competitors required to play on a cabled connection. The Championship is also only open to South Africans residing in South Africa. Qualifying players will be required to wear Mamelodi Sundowns kit as supplied.

Players competing in the offline qualifiers are only eligible to compete in one qualifier. The qualifiers are free to enter.
