England Test cap would be an absolute dream come true, says Baker
England's Test summer starts next month against New Zealand, and Sonny Baker could be in line for his red-ball debut at international level.
Sonny Baker said it "would be an absolute dream come true" to play a Test match for England.
The fast bowler is in line to make a Test debut this summer, with Mark Wood and Brydon Carse both injured and Chris Woakes retiring last year after the India series.
England start the Test summer with a three-match series against New Zealand, which begins on June 4.
Brendon McCullum's side also host Pakistan in a three-match Test series in August-September, which comes after a white-ball series with India.
"Getting a Test cap would be an absolute dream come true, obviously," Baker told Sky Sports.
"Test cricket is the pinnacle of cricket in general, and especially Ashes cricket. That's why we play the game.
"Who doesn't pretend to be Australia versus England in the backyard with your little brother? I know I did.
"In terms of readiness? That's for the selectors to decide. It's nothing to do with me. The only thing I can do is keep trying to learn."
The Test stays timeless. But for the rest… it’s a new era.

Baker has represented England in ODI and T20I cricket, but the seamer struggled on debut in both formats.
The 23-year-old conceded 76 runs from seven overs on his ODI debut against South Africa, and gave away 52 runs from four overs against Ireland on his T20I debut, failing to pick up a wicket in both matches.
"I'm not going to pretend that I wasn't upset," Baker admitted. "I was absolutely gutted after the game; it was a really tough day for me emotionally.
"I was so excited for the game, wasn't sure how it was going to go, and then you get a first-baller as your team is bowled out for 130, before you're bowling up the hill to a guy who is looking to smash you about everywhere. You're somewhat on a hiding to nothing.
"It was a tough start. That is the reality of it.
"But I kept charging in, kept going and was pretty happy with how I handled myself on the day - as much as I was gutted with my figures."
