Embiid ejected in chaotic 76ers win
The Philadelphia 76ers got their 10th win of the NBA season against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, but it was not without drama.
Joel Embiid was ejected from the Philadelphia 76ers' 111-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs in a chaotic first half on Monday.
Embiid crashed into a foul on Victor Wembanyama, knocking him to the floor with just under three minutes left of the half before vehemently arguing the call, leading to a technical foul from referee Jenna Schroeder.
He then charged towards the officials, having to be restrained by his team-mates and coaches as he continued his protests, resulting in the second ejection of his career.
Embiid had nine points and three rebounds before his ejection, which was confirmed to be for two technical fouls after the game.
"It was a wild first half," 76ers coach Nick Nurse said.
"I couldn't ever really get to the referee that called it [Embiid's ejection]. So, I was asking the other guys, and they were saying to ask her, and I never really got a chance.
"I just assume it was [for] arguing or whatever."

It was the second ejection of the first half as Andre Drummond was also deemed to have committed two technical fouls. That decision was rescinded after a video review.
His second technical foul was for standing on Wembanyama's foot, but the contact was thought to be incidental. The Frenchman was then pulled up for flopping, though that decision was also overturned after Philadelphia had taken the resulting free throw, with that point struck off.
"I don't think it was a foul on them, and I don't think it was a flop [on Wembanyama]," Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said. "That's kind of how I saw it up to that point."
Wembanyama, who was greeted by boos for the rest of the game, eventually finished with 26 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks, but with Tyrese Maxey’s 32 points, it was not enough to deny the 76ers the win.
