Alex de Minaur says he is ready to "break through some barriers" as he aims to break back into the ATP's top 10.

De Minaur was ranked as high as sixth this time last year, but has dropped down the rankings to 13th, with his last match a fourth-round defeat to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon.

The Australian reached the quarter-finals in four consecutive grand slams between the French Open in 2024 and this year's Australian Open.

He is making a return to the Washington Open this week, where he has not played since 2022, as he steps up preparation for the US Open, with ATP-1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati, where he won in 2019, in the coming weeks.

"I've got the experience now. I've got the knowledge, the physicality side of things," he told ATPTour.com.

"Everything is just there for me to go out and perform. I can really have a swing these next three or four years and really show that I'm at my peak and break through some barriers.

"I'm ready to go deep into tournaments. It's just up to myself to put those results right."

De Minaur is currently 10th in the race for a place in the ATP Finals later this year, having qualified for the tournament for the first time in 2024.

He has recorded 279 career wins, with 30 of those coming in 2025.

He has won 46 or 47 in each of the last three seasons but has never broken the 50-wins milestone before, something that is on his mind going into the second half of the year.

"That's the goal," he said. "Twenty more wins? I think it's do-able."
