The Seattle Storm came within a basket of reaching the WNBA semi-finals, but it wasn't enough for Noelle Quinn to keep her job as coach.

The Storm announced Sunday that Quinn's contract would not be renewed for the 2026 season and the search for a new coach would begin immediately.

The decision was made three days after Seattle's season ended with a 74-73 loss to the 2nd-seeded Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of a first-round series.

Quinn was in her fifth season as the Storm's head coach after taking over in 2021, and had led the franchise to four play-off berths, including a trip to the semi-finals in 2022. She has the second most wins as a coach in franchise history.

Quinn has a long history with Seattle, beginning in 2013, when she joined the team as a player. After helping Seattle win the 2018 WNBA championship, she retired and moved into the role as assistant coach for the Storm in 2019.

She was Seattle's associate head coach in 2020, when the franchise won its fourth WNBA title.

"On behalf of our organisation, I would like to thank Noelle for her time with the Storm.  Her commitment to the ongoing success of our organisation and to furthering the development of our players was second to none," Storm general manager Talisa Rhea said in a statement. "She put us in a position to win at the highest levels of the game and for that, we are grateful."
