NBA: Bucks, Thunder advance to title game of NBA Cup

The Bucks rode Giannis Antetokounmpo's big game to a win over the Hawks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder past the Rockets

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 32 points and was an assist away from a triple-double, Damian Lillard added 25 and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Atlanta Hawks 110-102 on Saturday to earn a spot in the NBA Cup championship game.

Antetokounmpo finished with 14 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks for the Bucks, who improved to 11-1 all-time in NBA Cup games - the only loss coming in last year’s semifinals.

Trae Young had 35 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Hawks, who got 15 points and 10 rebounds from Jalen Johnson and 15 points from De’Andre Hunter.

Antetokounmpo was 10 of 15 from the field and 12 of 18 from the foul line. Bobby Portis provided his usual boost off the bench with 10 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes.

Antetokounmpo dunked with 4:39 left to give Milwaukee a 98-95 lead and his driving layup 25 seconds later extended the lead to five.

Lillard’s floating jumper in the lane with 24 seconds to play made it 107-100 and effectively sealed the win for Milwaukee.

Thunder defeat Rockets to advance

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 20 of his 32 points in the second half, and the Oklahoma City Thunder pulled away late for a 111-96 victory over the Houston Rockets to reserve a place in the NBA Cup championship game.

The Thunder take a five-game winning streak into Tuesday night's final against the Bucks.

Isaiah Hartenstein added 21 points, Jalen Williams scored 20 and Luguentz Dort finished with 19 points and nine rebounds for Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City.

Amen Thompson led Houston with 19 points, one of six Rockets in double figures, and Alperen Sengun had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Houston's Fred VanVleet shot 1 of 11 from 3-point range and is 7 for 40 in his last four games.

Oklahoma City went on a 13-3 run to go ahead 97-82 with 4:57 left and break open what was a close game.
