Lynx star Collier to miss Game 4 against Mercury
The Minnesota Lynx will be facing elimination in Game 4 on Sunday without star forward Napheesa Collier, who has a left ankle injury
The Minnesota Lynx will be without star Napheesa Collier for Game 4 of the WNBA semifinals against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
Collier injured her left ankle late in Game 3 on Friday when she got tangled up with Alyssa Thomas, who stole the ball from her near the 3-point line. No foul was called on the play.
An 84-76 loss left the Lynx trailing the best-of-five series 2-1. If they win on Sunday, Game 5 would be Tuesday night in Minnesota.
The runner-up for MVP hurt her ankle on the play and had to be helped to the locker room. Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said after the game that Collier “probably has a fracture,” though she didn’t elaborate on the injury.
Reeve also won't be with the team Sunday as she was suspended for the game by the league for behaviour and comments after that play and in the team's postgame press conference.
“The officiating crew that we had tonight – for the leadership to deem those three people semifinals playoff worthy - is (expletive) malpractice,” Reeve said.
It's believed to be the first time in the history of the WNBA that a coach has been suspended for a playoff game.
