Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did ‘everything in his power’ to help the Oklahoma City Thunder tie the NBA Finals at 2-2 against the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers outscored the Thunder in each of the first three quarters, but Gilgeous-Alexander scored 15 points in the last 4 minutes and 38 seconds of the game to give his side a 111-104 win.

The regular season and Western Conference finals MVP finished with 35 points, three rebounds, three steals and one block.

Gilgeous-Alexander wanted to leave everything out on the floor for his team-mates and coaching staff.

“I knew what it would have looked like if we lost tonight,” said Gilgeous-Alexander.

“I didn't want to go out not swinging. I didn't want to go out not doing everything I could do in my power, in my control, to try to win the game.

“The guys deserve that much from me. The coaching staff deserves that much from me. I just tried to be aggressive but also let the game come to me, not try to force anything too crazy. I guess it paid off.”

Of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, eight of those came from free throws as he shot 100% from the line. This was the first time anyone had put up those numbers since Michael Jordan in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.

Gilgeous-Alexander also set a record for most fourth-quarter clutch-time points in a finals game in the play-by-play era, his with 14 surpassing Dwayne Wade’s previous high of 11 in Game 5 of the 2006 finals.

“That's what it's all about,” Gilgeous-Alexander added. “Winning, especially this time of the season, it comes down to the moments. It's going to come down to late game.

“Every team is good. There's rarely going to be a blowout. It comes down to the moments and who is willing to make winning plays on both ends of the floor.

“I relish those moments, love the moments, good or bad. When I was a kid shooting at my driveway, I'd count down the clock for those moments. Now I get to live it. It's a blessing, it's fun, and I relish it.”

Game 5 of the finals will take place on June 16 back in Oklahoma as the Thunder regained their home advantage with this win.
