Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson stands alone, winning the WNBA MVP for a record fourth time.

The WNBA announced Wilson won the regular-season MVP for a second straight season on Sunday. She also earned the honour in 2020 and 2022.

The fourth MVP gives the eight-year veteran Wilson one more trophy than three-time winners Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson.

Wilson, who was the unanimous winner last season, received 51 first-place votes and 21 second-place votes from a panel of 72 sportswriters and broadcasters. Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Colliers finished in second place, followed by Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas.

Wilson, who was also honoured last week as the WNBA's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, led the league in scoring for a second year in a row (23.4 points per game) and also led the WNBA in blocked shots (2.3). The five-time All-WNBA selection also averaged 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals, with her scoring, rebounding, assists, blocked shots and steals per game averages being the second best of her career.

This marked Wilson's second consecutive season to average at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. She is the only player to reach those marks in a season in WNBA history with a minimum of 15 games played.

Wilson, 29, helped the Aces win their final 16 regular-season games, as well as a berth in the semi-finals of the WNBA play-offs.
